AEL/LEA, a leading New Caledonian laboratory

AEL / LEA is a specialized laboratory that proposes since 10 years a complete offer of analyzes and environmental expertises

With highly technical and innovative methods developed as part of its research and development programs, AEL/LEA is equipped with a range of powerful tools to detect early impacts on the natural environment, however minimal. These programs are ongoing and a number of these are carried out in collaboration with research institutes.

AEL/LEA is composed of passionate scientists experts in analysis and advanced interpretation.  With experience gained over many years, AEL/LEA team members are the driving force behind its quality management system. The laboratory is certified ISO 9001:2015 that covers both its supporting and core business activities. The scope of certified activities is "Environmental Chemistry and Hydrodynamic Modeling". AEL/LEA quality assurance program (QA/QC) guarantees the analytical quality and the reliability of the results to our customers, from sample collection to validation of data.

Our technical resources at the service of analytical performance

AEL / LEA is equipped with specific equipment for on-site intervention and efficient analytical means to detect the presence of chemical pollutants at ultra-trace levels, in all types of environmental media.

As part of the quality control procedures, AEL/LEA regularly participates in proficiency testing in the form of inter-calibration exercises. These tests provide reassurance to our customers that methods developed internally are controlled and produce reliable results. Theys also allow the laboratory to gain international recognition of its analytical skills.

DIRECTOR'S WORD

In a context where environmental protection is becoming a major issue for everyone's future, our expertise and our services are of particular importance. Thus, our role, particularly in the South Pacific, is to facilitate the reconciliation between human activities and the preservation of the environment.

Passionate, we are committed to constantly developing our techniques and consider our Research & Development projects as priorities. The development of new methodologies for sampling and analysis allows us to offer the best possible technical solutions to our customers.

AEL/LEA is perpetually concerned with ensuring the reliability and quality of its expertise and services, and in guaranteeing compliance with our customer’s specified or implied requirements. With this in mind, the whole team is genuinely striving for Quality.

Experimental equipment

Our expertise allows us to study interactive mechanisms in unconsolidated materials (soils, waste, sediments, etc.) by using either standard internationally recognized (ISO) techniques or by the implementation of specific approaches in response to a particular problematic.

Subject examples Techniques used
Geochemical behavior of unconsolidated materials Static (batch) and dynamic (column) leaching tests
Erodability of unconsolidated materials Dynamic tests using scaled model flume and rain simulator
Pollutant migration in the unsaturated soil zone Specific electrodes, porous samplers, scale models
